COPPERCHASE SUPPLY AND INSTALL DIGITAL AUTOMATIC TERMINAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (D-ATIS) INTO DUBAI INTERNATIONAL

Date: 30th June 2004

In March 2004, Dubai International appointed Copperchase (CPC) to enhance their existing airport operations by installing D-ATIS.

CPC D-ATIS merges Meteorological and Air Traffic Control Information on an airfield and converts it into an audible, vocal signal. The ATIS signal is then distributed via a Data link (ACARS), radio transmitter or any other audio device. The CPC D-ATIS can support the transmission of the broadcast in English and a local Language.

With the introduction of the CPC D-ATIS, suitably equipped aircraft now have the ability to get the ATIS information anywhere in the world at any given time using the data link network. The CPC D-ATIS allows Dubai to deliver the ATIS message direct to the on-board printer or MCDU via the ACARS network currently installed in Emirates Airlines and many other airlines’ aircraft.

Colin Hewson from Dubai International explained "After the activation of ACARS equipment in Emirates Airlines aircraft, the introduction of CPC D-ATIS in Dubai took place. Thus directing communication in a more reliable way".

Copperchase have developed a broad range of ATC products and formed strategic alliances and business partnerships with some of the world’s leading manufacturers.
