Copperchase upgrades AGL and Apron Lighting at Guernsey Airport

Copperchase was contracted by Hochtief, the international construction company, to upgrade airfield lighting at Guernsey Airport.

Copperchase Systems Engineering designed, built and installed the AGL Control System into Guernsey’s new terminal building.

The AGL system, which monitors and controls airfield operations from within the equipment room of the central control terminal, provides ATC staff with direct control over all AGL circuits in use at the airport.

While using comprehensive mimic displays of ATC lighting facilities on various "touch screens"’, the AGL is also able to provide timely "Back indication" of AGL status and fault conditions to the Guernsey ATC and ATE staff.

A spokesman for Guernsey Airport comments, "We are very pleased with the work Copperchase Systems Engineering contributed to this project. Since installation of the Copperchase system, we have had few complaints, regarding the systems operation, from ATC."

Paul Boydell, the Copperchase Project Manager, remarks, "The installation of the AGL system went very well. The cooperation and help from the engineering & ATC staff at Guernsey was exceptional."

The Apron Lighting stage of the project will be completed in the latter part of this year (2004).
