Air Traffic Data Systems
Copperchase Air Traffic Data Systems provide a range of sophisticated software tools to manage the collation, presentation and dissemination of information within the ATC environment.
AFSWITCH – AFTN Message Switch
Copperchase created its automatic AFTN message switch for ATC using its extensive experience of the aviation marketplace. AFSWITCH has been specifically designed for AFTN use and meets the requirements of the current issue of ICAO Annex 10. The switch provides full connectivity to the Copperchase AFGATE and AFTERM products.
AFTERM – AFTN Message Terminal
AFTERM is a PC-based AFTN message terminal for use in control towers and flight briefing units, or wherever there is a requirement for receiving, transmitting and storing AFTN messages. In line with international requirements, up to 30 days of traffic can be stored on the hard drive ready for immediate retrieval. The terminal is the economic entry point to the range of Copperchase message processing systems that have been developed for ATC and the aviation industry. If required, it can be easily upgraded to a Copperchase AFGATE (AFTN Message Distributor).
AMHS MTCU - AMHS to AFTN Gateway
The AMHS MTCU is an ICAO SARPs compliant MTCU that allows the conversion of AFTN messages to AMHS and vice versa. The AMHS MTCU is written in Java and runs co-located with Isode M-Switch.
AMHS Terminal - AMHS User Agent
The AMHS Terminal is an ICAO SARPs compliant X.400 User Agent, which allows end users to connect to the AMHS to send and receive ATC messages. It has been specifically designed with the needs of ATS operators in mind, providing a full set of ICAO 4444 forms...
ATC Information Display System (IDS)
The Copperchase Information Display System (IDS) has been developed as an ATC Intranet that is ready to be modified to suit the client's individual requirements. The IDS has been designed to provide Intranet access to MET data, procedures, images, movements and personnel details using specific update utilities. The consistency of sensitive documentation may be protected, the Intranet blocks access to out-of-date material. The Intranet will run as an entity in itself or can be integrated into an airport's own Intranet for airport-wide access.
Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) & D-ATIS
The Copperchase ATIS is an aeronautical flight information service that automatically merges the current MET and ATC information on an airfield and converts it to voice, using either pre-recorded phrases or voice synthesis. This audio signal is then made available for distribution via radio transmitter (or any other audio device) and optionally over PSTN. Aircrews can tune into the correct radio frequency to hear the ATIS transmission, thus reducing controller–pilot radio chatter on initial contact. The text version of this ATIS broadcast may also be distributed on the AFTN work. An abbreviated text format can also be delivered directly to the cockpit display of suitably equipped aircraft (D-ATIS).
Flight Data Management System (FDMS)
The Copperchase Flight Data Management System (FDMS) provides ATC staff (Departure and Approach Control) with a tool to manage flight information and the generation of flight strips. Utilising the communications and routing features of the Copperchase AFTN Router, the FDMS stores and automatically applies changes and modifications to flight plans received on the AFTN. Standard formatted strips are automatically printed at specific times prior to EOBT/ETOA and, if necessary, strips are reprinted with updated information at nominated positions.
METSYS
The Copperchase METSYS operates in a similar manner to the Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at an airfield. It consists of a set of airfield MET sensors located at appropriate points on the airfield, a data-gathering processor running METSYS software, and a number of distributed MET displays.
