The facilities offered by the Copperchase ADIMS Interface are:
- Simplified development of applications accessing ADIMS by software developers who need not be Oracle database experts.
- Already fully validated and authorised by NATS to reduce application testing time.
- Applications can be written in any language capable of utilising Microsoft ActiveX components, eg Visual Basic, C, Visual C++, Javascript, etc.
- 3 levels of API are provided, in a layer structure in which each layer provides services to the one above, in the form of an ActiveX component with a number of public methods.
- BASIC API provides access to each individual Oracle Stored Procedure on
ADIMS.
- COMPOSITE API provides the results of standalone queries as a Microsoft recordset for further data manipulation by user-written software applications.
- FILE API provides the results of standalone queries as ASCII text files on disk.
- Recordsets (from the COMPOSITE API) for NOTAM, BIRDTAM, ASHTAM, SNOWTAM and NON-NOTAM information can be created.
- NOTAM, BIRDTAM, SNOWTAM and NON-NOTAM recordsets can be created on an airport or an FIR basis; ASHTAM recordsets are created only on a FIR basis. In addition, NOTAM recordsets can be created on a longitude/latitude/altitude basis,a longitude/latitude/flight level basis or a scope basis, and NON-NOTAM recordsets can be created on a country basis.
- Text files (from the FILE API) for NOTAM, BIRDTAM, ASHTAM, SNOWTAM and NON-NOTAM information can be created.
- NOTAM, BIRDTAM, SNOWTAM and NON-NOTAM files can be created on an airport or an FIR basis; ASHTAM files are created only on a FIR basis.
- A simple configurable scheduler is provided which controls the FILE API to make application development even easier.

The ADIMSI scheduler
The ADIMSI scheduler uses the FILE API to generate NOTAM, BIRDTAM, SNOWTAM, ASHTAM and NON-NOTAM text files automatically according to a configurable schedule. The schedule is configured by specifying a list of times throughout the day when the text files are to be created, or by specifying the file creation interval in hours.
It is also possible to run the file-creation process on demand.
The scheduler can also be configured to determine for which airports and FIRs it should produce text files.
